Been loving DC's music for years now abdI was fortunate enough to get to see DC's live performance at TAV. It was absolutely phenomenal!
The album DID NOT fail me! The lyrics touched me in so many ways. I am listening to them right now, Feeling Fifteen Again is definitely my favorite song in the whole album!
“Would be great to sing this! I like it. You sing in old fashion way what I like ! Hope you don’t mind that I am saying „old fashion way” I mean melodic, some songs reminds me Mavis Staples or Salomon Burke.” “Older Than I Look’ now Great grooveZ” “Very diversified !”
In a world where there are many songwriters and acoustic guitar players who happen to be able to eke out a succession of 5 or so notes, comes a voice in the wilderness that reminds us that "the human voice is a force to be reckoned with and is an instrument to be respected!" Douglas C Rapier aka DC Rapier has that instrument and he has released his first ever solo CD featuring 13 songs that tell the story of a life well lived and a promise that it is NEVER too late - Feeling Fifteen Again delivers that promise and redefines what it is to be a singer and a vocalist with a profound human instrument!
This album is fantastic from the first to the last track--DC Rapier has an amazing, almost velvety voice; excellent back-up singers that complement the sound; and, of course, phenomenal musicians on this album. The highlight for me is not the musical prowess, however; something about this album is a welcome return to a musical generation that I missed entirely growing up. The sound has something akin to an old-style jazz band, but with the clever songwriting I'd expect from something closer to the 70s or 80s. His style, honestly, surpasses my vocabulary. I struggle listening to this album because I just can't take my focus off the smart lyrics and the hot sound--be prepared to actually LISTEN to an album for once in your life (this ain't background music, people)! Now buy this album and hear it for yourself!
Shades of Johhny Cash and Leonard Cohen. DC is the new poet of his generation. The baton has been passed and 'Feeling Fifteen Again' has accepted the torch. The timbre of his voice and his wording instantly brings back the memories of growing up in the 70’s.
Great job!! I find you have written an incredible variation of material within the context of the CD. Great musicianship and engineering. Also, the packaging is amazing.
What makes a painting touch people’s hearts ? Besides the techniques a painter uses , it’s the story behind the painting that captures the hearts of the beholders . DC , my favorite singer wrote songs to tell his stories with beautiful melodies. His own life stories also encourage us not to give up our dreams even though they seems unlikely to be realized His passion for life appears in each song he wrote . DC Rapier’s 'Feeling Fifteen Again' is a foot tapping, body-moving album of blues with dynamics of funk-driven beats , If you like story-telling music, than you’re going to want this album.
